Ettore Germano's Hérzu Langhe DOC Riesling stands as a masterpiece of Rhine Riesling, masterfully cultivated on the lofty slopes of the Langhe region, at an altitude of 500-570 meters above sea level. Benefiting from a dual southeast and southwest exposure, these 15-year-old vineyards proudly stand on a unique terroir, characterized by silty, calcareous, and abundantly stony soil. Harvest begins at the dawn of October, with meticulous attention paid to superior quality and the integrity of each cluster. In the winemaking process, manual grape collection is followed by gentle crushing and pressing, then by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of about 16°C in vertical stainless steel tanks. This sophisticated technique, by keeping the temperature low, modulates the fermentative activity of the yeasts, promoting the retention of a sugar residue that enhances the varietal nuances of the Riesling. Bottling takes place at the end of spring, foregoing malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine's liveliness and distinctive aromatic characteristics. In the glass, Hérzu reveals itself in all its glory with a bright straw-yellow color, embellished with greenish hues. The bouquet opens with an array of fruity and subtly tropical aromas in its youth, gradually transforming into the mineral and hydrocarbon notes emblematic of the grape's evolution. On the palate, the wine offers a rich and enveloping entry, marked by exceptional sapidity and balanced fruity sweetness, leading to a long-lasting finish characterized by freshness and memorable persistence. Excellent when paired with a wide range of seafood starters, raw and elaborately cooked fish dishes, as well as soups, Ettore Germano's Hérzu Langhe DOC Riesling asserts itself as a refined accompaniment, capable of elevating any culinary experience with its distinctive and harmonious presence.
