Our reviews:

Barbaresco Pajorè – Bel Colle | The Austere Elegance of Treiso’s Premier Cru

Barbaresco Pajorè by Bel Colle hails from one of the most celebrated crus in the Langhe, located in Treiso, where Nebbiolo expresses exceptional finesse. Grown at elevations between 190 and 350 meters on calcareous-clay soils with southwest exposure, Pajorè delivers a wine of depth, freshness, and finely structured tannins.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with about 10 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages for 24 months in oak barrels and is bottle-aged for an additional 6 months to reach full maturity.

In the glass, it shows a garnet red hue with orange tints. The bouquet is complex and enveloping, offering notes of red flowers, raspberry, sour cherry, and delicate spice nuances. On the palate, it is structured yet harmonious, with velvety tannins and a long, elegant finish echoing red fruits and soft spices.

An ideal pairing for roast pheasant, braised meats, or aged cheeses, this Barbaresco also shines in contemplative tastings among enthusiasts, thanks to its excellent aging potential.

Bel Colle Winery – Verduno, Piedmont

TRADITION AND INNOVATION IN THE HEART OF THE LANGHE

Founded in 1974 in Verduno by Franco and Carlo Pontiglione with Giuseppe Priola, Bel Colle Winery stands today as a benchmark in Piedmontese winemaking. Since 2015, it's been part of the Bosio family legacy—four generations of winemakers blending tradition with modern precision.

Its 10 hectares of vineyards stretch across Verduno, the Langhe, and Asti hills. Bel Colle is best known for its Barolo DOCG from the prestigious Monvigliero and Bussia crus, and for producing Verduno Pelaverga DOC, a fragrant red from a rare native grape.

Led by winemakers Luca Bosio and Mario Albrito, the winery embraces sustainable farming, using only organic compounds and hand-harvesting. Fermentations rely on native yeasts, and aging occurs in French and Slavonian oak, highlighting each wine’s varietal character and terroir.
