The "Mezzadro alla Fontana" 2011 is an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG Riserva that represents a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. This wine pays tribute to the history and passion that have bound the producing family for over a century. Made with a blend of 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara, and 5% Croatina, the wine comes from vineyards located in the municipalities of San Pietro in Cariano, Marano di Valpolicella, and Mazzano di Negrar, at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. The soil is of volcanic, calcareous, and gravelly nature, and the vines are trained according to the Veronese pergola system. The harvest takes place by hand from mid-September, followed by a period of natural drying for about four months. The vinification takes place in stainless steel, with alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in concrete. The aging takes place for at least 24 months in French and American oak barriques and for an additional 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 20 and 30 Hl, followed by a further period of maturation in the bottle. From an organoleptic point of view, the wine has an intense garnet color with orange reflections. On the nose, intense scents emerge that recall a summer fir forest, dry undergrowth of myrtle, raspberries, and strawberries, Havana, leather, and candied citrus peels. On the palate, the wine is dry but silky, with soft tannins wrapped in the balsams of its fruit.
