The Wine
The Langhe Arneis "Srej" by Roberto Sarotto is a white wine that best showcases the potential of the Arneis grape and the drive for innovation of this now renowned Piedmontese winery. The term "Srej" comes from the Piedmontese dialect and means "oak forest," referring to the vineyard near the winery in Neviglie where the grapes for this wine are grown. This Arneis presents a straw yellow color with golden highlights, hinting at a broad and complex bouquet. On the nose, tropical fruit notes like pineapple and mango emerge, accompanied by a delicate hint of white flowers. On the palate, it stands out for its balanced freshness, with a light minerality that enhances the tasting experience, offering a persistent finish with touches of almond and citrus. The structure is round and soft, providing a silky and pleasant mouthfeel. Vinification partially takes place in wood, adding complexity and longevity to the wine, while not overwhelming the grape's typical freshness. Ideal with fish dishes, white meats, and medium-aged cheeses, this wine also pairs perfectly with delicate first courses, such as stuffed egg pasta, but remains an excellent choice as an aperitif.
The Winery
The Roberto Sarotto winery is located in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe, in Neviglie near the city of Alba. The company can count on 90 hectares of property in the most prestigious production areas of Piedmont, located in different areas: Ronconuovo (Neviglie) where the main vinification and bottling cellar is also located; Novello, Barolo, Neive, Mango. In Gavi, on the other hand, there is a Cortese winery for the production of Gavi from the municipality of Gavi.
The philosophy of the cellar is particularly aimed at the needs of final consumers. The combination of tradition and modern winemaking techniques, together with the care of the vineyard, brings to light a balanced and pleasant wine in compliance with environmental sustainability.
