The 2001 vintage in Barbaresco has been hailed as one of the best ever. The wines exhibited an excellent balance between alcohol, solid tannins, and lively acidity. The result was a wine that promised a magical combination of early drinkability and longevity, with the generous fruitiness required for the former and the robust structure needed for the latter.
Roberto Sarotto's Barbaresco Riserva DOCG 2001 is a wine that embodies the magnificence and depth of one of the best vintages ever. Produced from Nebbiolo grapes and matured for four years in large Slavonian oak barrels, this wine is an oenological masterpiece. After wood aging, the wine was preserved in steel until its recent bottling, a process that imparts unmatched freshness to it. On the nose, almost ethereal notes of red fruits and violets emerge, followed by delicate nuances of leather and tobacco. In the mouth, the wine is warm and juicy, with well-balanced tannins refined by time. The structure is harmonious, with a perfect balance of acidity, savoriness, and body. Bottled with DIAM corks to ensure impeccable closure, this wine is a true treasure for wine enthusiasts.
