ROERO RISERVA âVALMAGGIOREâ â CASCINA CHICCO
A great Nebbiolo from Roero, born in a historic cru.
Cascina Chiccoâs Roero Riserva âValmaggioreâ comes from the esteemed Valmaggiore cru in Vezza dâAlba, known for high-quality Nebbiolo since 1640. With 35-year-old vines and a perfect south-facing exposure, the vineyard yields grapes of outstanding finesse and concentration.
Manual harvest and double grape selection precede fermentation in steel tanks, followed by 40â45 days of skin contact. The wine matures for 16 months in French oak (new and used), then rests in steel and finally bottles for 12 months before release.
It displays a delicate ruby red. The bouquet is complex, with violet, raspberry, blackberry, and fine spice notes. On the palate, it is rich and structured, with layers of floral and cocoa hints, firm yet elegant tannins, and a long, persistent finish.
Ideal occasions: excellent with game roasts, braised meats, and aged cheeses. Perfect for special dinners and contemplative wine tastings.

Winery Chicco
Cascina Chicco manages over 50 hectares of vineyards, spread across some of the most renowned areas of Roero and the Langhe, including Canale, Vezza dâAlba, Castellinaldo dâAlba, Barbaresco, and Monforte dâAlba. For four generations, Cascina Chicco has embodied the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. The Faccenda family has transformed an old farmhouse in the town of Canale into a cutting-edge winery, guided by a deep respect for the land. Vinification is tailored to each grape variety and the desired wine style. For white wines, the winery employs cryomaceration, a cold technique that enhances aromatic extraction, prevents oxidation, and brings out fresh, fruity notes. This processâcold maceration of the must with the skinsâadds complexity, structure, and longevity to the wines. For red wines, longer macerations are used to achieve noble and delicate extractions. Aging follows in large oak casks and French oak barriques, highlighting the varietal and territorial character of each wine. This attention to detail continues in the underground cellar, a striking 5,000-square-meter space carved 28 meters deep into the hillside. Lined with terracotta bricks and gypsum crystals, it offers ideal conditions for agingâwhether for traditional still wines or Metodo Classico sparkling wines made from Nebbiolo or Alta Langa grapes. Each label from Cascina Chicco reflects a distinct identity, shaped by vineyard work, enological sensitivity, and respect for time.
