Our reviews:

Fontanafredda Asti DOCG Vintage 2024 – The Fragrant Sweetness of Moscato d’Asti

The Fontanafredda Asti DOCG Vintage 2023 is crafted from selected Moscato Bianco grapes grown on the sunny hills of Calosso d’Asti, S. Stefano Belbo, Treiso, Serralunga d’Alba, and Alba, at altitudes between 200 and 300 meters. The soils, rich in limestone and clay marl, promote optimal ripening, balancing natural sweetness and vibrant acidity. Harvested in early September, the grapes are picked at their peak maturity.

The wine is produced using the Charmat method, with gentle whole-cluster pressing and slow fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the grape’s primary aromas. The wine is bottled just weeks after fermentation to capture its full freshness.

In the glass, it displays a brilliant straw yellow hue. The intense and aromatic bouquet offers notes of musk, orange blossom, acacia, hawthorn, sage, and honey. On the palate, it is fragrant, balanced, and characteristic, with a well-managed sweetness that recalls freshly picked grapes. A fine and persistent perlage lends a pleasant liveliness to each sip.

Excellent as an aperitif or paired with delicate fruit-based desserts, it is also perfect for festive gatherings and convivial occasions, thanks to its light, aromatic profile and immediately enjoyable character.

The winery Fontanafredda

The Fontanafredda winery, founded in 1858 by Vittorio Emanuele II, first King of Italy, for his beloved Rosa Vercellana, has become an icon of Barolo and a model of sustainability and innovation in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Fontanafredda is not just a winery; it is a living legend of Barolo, born from the love between a king and his rose in the pulsating heart of the Piedmontese Langhe. Today, it is a symbol of the Langhe and Italy. With over 120 hectares of organic vineyards, this estate represents a hidden treasure among the hills of Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo, and beyond, where time seems to stand still and nature triumphs in all its splendor. Respect for the land and an ecological approach are central to Fontanafredda's philosophy, which has been practicing organic agriculture since 2015, certified in 2018.
