Elegant Spicy Complex

Il Fosso Sanguinaio, a jewel of Maremma Toscana, emerges as a vinicultural masterpiece where art and passion merge into a refined blend of Tuscan red. Born from the embrace of three grape varieties - the Tuscan soul of Sangiovese (75%), the exotic elegance of Petit Verdot (15%), and the vibrancy of Alicante (10%) - this wine is a celebration of sensory richness. Imagine the care and attention that accompany the harvest, where each cluster is handpicked under the Tuscan sun, a sign of an unbreakable bond with the land. The magic begins with a cold pre-fermentative maceration at just 12°C (54°F) for 8 hours, a slow dance that prepares the grapes for transformation. Fermentation then comes to life at a controlled temperature of 26°C (79°F), a process that immerses the skins in the must for 16 days, endowing the wine with its structure and silky tannins. It's in the aging process that Il Fosso Sanguinaio gains its nobility: first, a rest for 6 months in French oak barriques, followed by 12 months in traditional Slavonian oak barrels of 30 HL, guardians of time that enrich the wine with unique nuances. On the palate, Il Fosso Sanguinaio reveals its majestic elegance, with a texture of velvety tannins intertwined with spicy notes, hints of cherry and myrtle, and that touch of pepper and helichrysum that invites an unexpected sensory journey. Its robust and enveloping structure makes it the ideal companion for stewed game, Florentine steak, and the most authentic expressions of cheeses and cured meats from the Maremma tradition. Il Fosso Sanguinaio is not just a wine, but a story of land, passion, and tradition, an invitation to discover the deepest essence of Tuscany through the glass.

The Uggiano farm was founded in 1976 in Scandicci in the hamlet of San Vincenzo a Torri, in the heart of Chiati dei Colli Fiorentini, from the idea of a group of entrepreneurs from Bergamo who were passionate about Tuscan wines.
The vineyards, located at an altitude that varies between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, are cultivated with respect for the environment and the ecosystem to obtain the grapes in the most natural way possible. In the cellar we work in such a way as to respect as much as possible the characterization of the territory and to have wines of the utmost excellence capable of representing the best enology of the Florentine hills.
