The Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC "Castellano" is an authentic expression of the Marche region, crafted from a skillful blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes that capture the essence of the territory with intensity and character. The vinification of "Castellano" begins with a meticulous selection of grapes, harvested at their peak of maturity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the aromas and integrity of the fruit. This is followed by at least 12 months of aging in oak barrels, which helps to soften the tannins and meld the flavors, adding significant complexity to the wine. The wine displays a deep ruby red color with violet hues that highlight its youth. The bouquet is rich and enveloping, characterized by ripe red fruit notes such as cherry and plum, enhanced by spicy hints of vanilla and black pepper. A subtle undertone of tobacco and leather completes its aromatic profile. On the palate, "Castellano" is robust and balanced. The tannins are well-structured yet soft, perfectly integrated with a freshness that beckons for another sip. The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste that revisits the tones of ripe fruit and spices. Ideal with rich meat dishes like braised meats and roasts, but also excels with aged cheeses and dishes featuring mushrooms and truffles.
